Winterville is a small Georgia city eight miles east of Athens via US Highway 29, making it an easy 15-minute drive through Piedmont countryside. Most visitors arrive from Atlanta by taking I-85 north to Commerce, then US 441 south through Athens. The town sits along a historic railroad corridor, and its restored 1893 train depot now serves as a museum featuring one of Georgia's last wooden cabooses.
