Winkburn is a small Nottinghamshire village reached via the A617 from Newark, then minor roads through Kirklington. From Nottingham, take the A612 towards Southwell and continue north through local lanes. The village sits in typical East Midlands farmland between Southwell and rural communities like Maplebeck. St. John the Baptist church features Norman stonework with an 800-year-old south doorway decorated with carved chevron patterns.
