Whitley Bay is a traditional seaside town on the Northumberland coast, 10 miles northeast of Newcastle. The A191 and A1058 Coast Road provide the main access routes, with the Metro yellow line offering a car-free alternative. St. Mary's Lighthouse, reached by causeway at low tide, remains the town's most photographed landmark, while Minchella's fish shop has served the same family recipes from its seafront spot since 1946.
