The A695 connects to the A1 for longer journeys, whilst the B6309 serves local traffic to Prudhoe and Stocksfield. Newcastle International Airport is 25 kilometres east. The village sits near Hadrian's Wall, with the Roman Baths of Cilurnum at nearby Chesters offering a glimpse of the area's ancient heritage.
