West Linton perches in the Pentland Hills, 25km southwest of Edinburgh via the scenic A702. This former weaving village makes a handy stop between the capital and the Borders, with the A701 linking east to Peebles. Stone cottages cluster around the old tollbooth, whilst walking paths lead into the surrounding hills. The 18th-century tollbooth's clock tower remains the village's focal point.
