Warter

Warter nestles in the Yorkshire Wolds, reached via the A166 from York or through Pocklington on quieter routes. The village sits amongst the characteristic chalk hills about 15 miles from York, with the medieval St James Church containing remarkable 14th-century wall paintings of St Nicholas that somehow escaped Reformation destruction.
