Wanamingo is a small farming town in southeastern Minnesota, about 50 miles from Minneapolis-St. Paul via Interstate 35 south to Highway 60 east. Highway 60 runs east-west through town toward Lake City and the Mississippi River, while Highway 56 connects north-south to Pine Island and Rochester. The area features rolling agricultural land in Minnesota's driftless region. Each summer, the town celebrates its Scandinavian roots with Dala Days festival, featuring traditional wooden horse painting.
