Vilas is a tiny farming town of 21 people in southeastern South Dakota's Miner County. Highway 14 provides main access, connecting east to Madison and west toward Pierre. From Sioux Falls, take I-29 north to Highway 14 west for about 60 miles. The town maintains one of South Dakota's smallest post offices in a modest building that's served the community for decades.
