Wright is a small coal mining town in Wyoming's Powder River Basin, built in the 1970s to house energy workers. Take Highway 387 from I-25 near Kaycee (45 miles west) or Highway 50 from Gillette (35 miles northeast). The town sits at 4,500 feet in high desert country with cold winters and warm summers. Wright still operates one of Wyoming's few remaining company stores.
