Tripoli is a small farming town in northeast Iowa with about 1,200 residents, located along Highway 3 between Waterloo and New Hampton. Most visitors arrive via Highway 3 or connect from Interstate 380 near Cedar Rapids. The town sits in the Wapsipinicon River valley among typical Iowa agricultural land. It's the birthplace of astronaut Shannon Lucid, who set an American spaceflight endurance record in 1996.
