Tonawanda is a small Erie County city along the Niagara River, just 10 miles north of Buffalo via Interstate 290. The city sits where the historic Erie Canal meets the Niagara River, with Route 62 (Niagara Falls Boulevard) as the main drag and easy highway access through I-290 and I-190. Buffalo's airport is about 15 miles southeast. The 1926 Riviera Theatre downtown still shows movies and hosts concerts in its original atmospheric design.
