Surprise lies about 20 miles northwest of downtown Phoenix in Arizona's Sonoran Desert. US Route 60 is the main artery, connecting directly to Phoenix via I-10. Loop 303 runs north-south through town, linking to other Valley suburbs. The area sees heavy commuter traffic and seasonal visitors drawn to its mild winters. Surprise Stadium hosts spring training for two Major League Baseball teams each March.
