Starbuck is a tiny wheat farming town of 93 people in southeastern Washington's Columbia County. Located along Highway 261 in the Snake River valley, it's about 45 minutes south of Walla Walla through rolling Palouse farmland. The area features hot, dry summers and mild winters typical of the Columbia plateau. A historic grain elevator still marks the spot where early settlers ran a ferry crossing in the 1880s.
