Slaton, TX

Slaton is a small railroad town 20 miles southeast of Lubbock on US Highway 84. Most visitors arrive via this direct route from Lubbock, while longer trips often use Slaton as a stopping point between the Panhandle and South Texas. The town sits on the flat South Plains, surrounded by cotton fields and wind farms. The restored 1912 Santa Fe depot houses a railroad museum that tells the story of Slaton's origins as a railway division point.
