Silvis, IL

Silvis is a small city in western Illinois, part of the Quad Cities area along the Mississippi River. Interstate 88 runs right through town, putting Chicago 160 miles east and connecting to I-80 for cross-country travel. Locally, Route 5 heads north to Moline and south toward the Quad City International Airport, about 8 miles away. The flat river valley location gives Silvis a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters. The city was once home to the Green Tree Inn, a historic railroad hotel that housed traveling circus performers during the Ringling Brothers' winter quarters era.
