Shaniko, OR

Shaniko is a tiny high desert community of 14 people, about 130 miles southeast of Portland via US-26 and OR-218. Once the "Wool Capital of the World," this remote spot at 3,000 feet elevation offers dramatic sagebrush scenery and wide-open skies. The original wooden wool warehouse still stands from its early 1900s heyday.
