Rich Creek is a small mountain town of 776 people in southwestern Virginia's Giles County, situated where Rich Creek meets the New River. US Route 460 runs right through town, connecting east to Blacksburg (30 miles) and west toward Kentucky. State Route 61 provides north-south access through the valley. The area serves as a gateway for New River recreation like fishing and tubing. The town still has one of Virginia's last operating company stores from its coal mining days.
