Rawlins is a high-desert railroad town on I-80 in south-central Wyoming, sitting at nearly 7,000 feet elevation. The interstate connects it to Laramie and Rock Springs, while Highway 287 heads north to Lander. It's a key stop for cross-country travelers and serves the local ranching and energy industries. The old Wyoming Frontier Prison offers tours of its historic cellblocks and outlaw exhibits.
