Priest River is a small Idaho Panhandle town of 1,778 people located where US Highway 2 crosses the Priest and Pend Oreille rivers. It's about 70 miles northeast of Spokane via I-90 and US 2, or 40 miles north of Coeur d'Alene on US 95 and US 2. The town serves as a waypoint for travelers heading to Glacier National Park or crossing between Washington and Montana. French fur traders named it after a Kalispel chief they called "The Priest."
