Poynor is a small East Texas community of about 470 people in Henderson County, roughly 75 miles southeast of Dallas. Take Highway 155 south from Tyler (25 miles) or Interstate 20 east from Dallas to Highway 155 south through Frankston. The area features rolling pine forests and farmland typical of East Texas, with a humid subtropical climate. The historic Poynor General Store, operating since the early 1900s, remains a local landmark and community hub.
