Portage, UT

Portage is a tiny farming town in northern Utah's Box Elder County, about 15 miles northwest of Brigham City via Highway 13. The main route from Salt Lake City takes I-15 north to Exit 379, then Highway 13 through agricultural land toward the Idaho border. At 4,200 feet elevation in the Bear River Valley, it experiences hot summers and snowy winters. The town sits next to the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge, one of Utah's top birdwatching spots.
