Pilot Mountain, NC

Pilot Mountain is a small Blue Ridge foothills town about 25 miles north of Winston-Salem, named after the distinctive quartzite dome that towers 2,421 feet above the countryside. US Highway 52 runs north-south through town, connecting to Mount Airy and Winston-Salem, while NC Highway 268 provides east-west access. The exposed rock face of Pilot Mountain creates a distinctive knob that's visible for miles around.
