Piedra is a remote mountain community of just 57 people in Colorado's San Juan Mountains, reached via Highway 160 and local roads about 45 miles from Alamosa or 60 miles from Durango through Pagosa Springs. The tiny settlement sits at high elevation where the Piedra River flows through rugged terrain of granite outcroppings and forest.
