Petrolia, TX

Petrolia is a small north Texas town of about 400 people along US Highway 82, roughly 15 miles west of Wichita Falls. Most visitors arrive via US 82 from Wichita Falls or take US 287 north from Dallas-Fort Worth through Bowie. The town sits in rolling prairie country where cattle ranches mix with old oil fields. Petrolia got its name from the 1904 oil boom that started when the first successful well was drilled here.
