Peru, NE

Peru is a small Nebraska college town of 653 people, home to Peru State College, one of the state's oldest institutions. Located in the Missouri River valley about 60 miles south of Omaha, it's reached via Highway 2 from Interstate 29 or Highway 75 south from the metro area. The scenic drive through rolling hills and river bottomland makes for pleasant day trips, especially during fall colors. Peru State College was founded in 1867 as Nebraska's first teacher training school.
