Newburg is a small Missouri town of 330 people in Phelps County, reached via Highway 28 from Rolla (15 miles northeast off I-44). The route passes through typical Ozark hill country along the Big Piney River valley. Most visitors come from Rolla or other nearby communities on day trips. The town sits where Highway 28's old iron truss bridge crosses the Big Piney River at a popular local swimming hole.
