Muskogee sits along the Arkansas River in eastern Oklahoma, about 50 miles southeast of Tulsa via US-69. The city connects east to Arkansas on Highway 62 and serves as a hub for the Three Rivers region where three major waterways converge. This river confluence created some of Oklahoma's richest farmland and shaped the area's history as a gathering place for relocated Native American tribes. The Five Civilized Tribes Museum houses one of the country's most comprehensive collections of Southeastern tribal artifacts.
