Mobeetie, TX

Mobeetie is a tiny Texas Panhandle town of 64 people along Highway 152, about 25 miles northeast of Wheeler. Most visitors drive Highway 152 from Wheeler or take Highway 83 north from I-40 near Amarillo. The rolling prairie landscape stretches endlessly under big skies, with frequent winds and dramatic weather. Mobeetie claims to be the first settlement in the Texas Panhandle, founded in 1877 as a frontier trading post.
