Mamou lies in Louisiana's prairie region, about 25 miles northwest of Opelousas via Highway 13. Most visitors arrive from I-10 at Exit 76, then drive 15 miles north into town. The city sits at the intersection of Highways 13 and 95, making it a natural stopping point between Lafayette and Lake Charles.
