Lyman is a small city of about 6,500 people located 15 miles southwest of Spartanburg via Highway 29. Most visitors arrive from I-85 at Exit 40, with the highway serving as the main route to both Spartanburg and Greenville. The town sits in South Carolina's Piedmont region with rolling hills and a humid subtropical climate. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is about 25 miles away for air travelers. Lyman hosts the annual Lake Splash Festival each summer at its central recreational lake.
