Lowndesville is a tiny community of about 200 people in western South Carolina's Abbeville County, reached via Highway 28 from Abbeville or Highway 81 from Anderson. The rolling Piedmont countryside features farmland and woods typical of the SC upstate. Most visitors arrive via Interstate 85 through Anderson, about 25 miles north. The historic Lowndesville Presbyterian Church, built in 1878, anchors this quiet rural settlement.
