Lovelady is a small East Texas town of about 490 people in Houston County's pine woods. Highway 7 runs right through town, connecting to Crockett 20 miles west and continuing east toward Center. For longer trips, most folks drive north on FM 229 to catch I-45 near Madisonville. The town sits in timber country with a humid climate and gets its name from Cyrus Lovelady, who ran a trading post here in the 1840s.
