Leakey, TX

Leakey is a small Hill Country town that serves as Real County's seat and a gateway to the Frio River. Highway 83 provides the main access, connecting to San Antonio via Uvalde or to Austin through the scenic Hill Country route. The area draws visitors for river recreation and outdoor activities, especially during Texas's hot summers when the spring-fed Frio offers relief. Leakey proudly calls itself the mohair capital of the world.
