Iowa Falls sits along Highway 20 in central Iowa, about 30 miles west of I-35 and 60 miles from Des Moines. Highway 65 runs north-south through town toward Mason City and Marshalltown. The Iowa River flows right through downtown, and there's a small municipal airport just southwest of the city center. The town got its name from limestone ledges that once created waterfalls on the river before a dam was built.
