Henrietta serves as Clay County's seat along US Highway 82, about 15 miles west of Wichita Falls. Most visitors arrive via US 82 from Wichita Falls or use State Highway 148 connecting to Bowie 25 miles south. The town sits amid rolling north Texas prairie land with a continental climate. The 1884 Second Empire courthouse on the town square features distinctive native sandstone construction and an ornate clock tower that's been keeping time for nearly 140 years.
