Hanaford, IL

Hanaford is a small Franklin County community of about 330 people in southern Illinois farm country. Most visitors arrive via Route 14, connecting from I-64 near Mount Vernon (20 miles northwest) or from Benton (15 miles southwest). The rural roads wind through agricultural land between the Shawnee National Forest and former coal mining areas. The town's 1898 one-room schoolhouse still stands as a testament to its agricultural heritage.
