Most visitors reach it via Interstate 74 to Route 116, then follow local roads through rolling farmland. The community sits on bluffs above the Illinois River valley, connected to Peoria by Route 116 and scenic River Road. Peoria's airport is about 20 miles southwest via I-74. Many streets still carry German names from the area's 1800s settlers.
