Gem, KS

Gem is a tiny farming town of 98 people in northwest Kansas wheat country. Reach it via I-70 Exit 54 at Brewster, then north 8 miles on County Road 50. Most traffic comes from Colby (15 miles) or connects to Highway 25. The grain elevator towers over the flat prairie, visible for miles as a landmark across Thomas County's endless fields.
