The city sits at the intersection of I-74 and US Highways 34 and 150, making it a natural stopping point for travelers crossing the state. Most visitors arrive via I-74 from Chicago (200 miles east) or the Quad Cities (45 miles west). You can still catch Amtrak's California Zephyr at the restored 1984 depot downtown.
