Dufur, OR

Dufur is a wheat farming town of about 950 people in north-central Oregon's high desert, reached via Highway 197 from The Dalles (20 miles north) or I-84 from Portland (2 hours). The surrounding golden grain fields stretch toward Mount Hood, and the 1907 Balch Hotel downtown is famously haunted.
