Diagonal, IA

Diagonal is a small farming town of 454 people in southwestern Iowa, about 90 miles from Des Moines. Highway 169 runs right through town, connecting north to US 34 for cross-state travel and south to Mount Ayr for local needs. The surrounding countryside features rolling hills and agricultural fields typical of southern Iowa. The town got its name from a diagonal railroad line that once crossed through the area.
