Deer Lodge, MT

Deer Lodge lies along Interstate 90 in western Montana, about 100 miles from both Bozeman and Missoula. Highway 12 intersects I-90 here, connecting north to Helena and south to the Pioneer Mountains. Most traffic arrives via I-90, with local routes serving nearby Philipsburg and surrounding ranch country. The Old Montana Prison Museum, housed in the former state penitentiary that operated from 1871 to 1979, draws thousands of visitors annually.
