Crown Point is Lake County's seat, located 50 miles southeast of Chicago along I-65. The historic courthouse square anchors downtown, while major routes include US 231 and State Road 2. Popular drives connect to Chicago (45 minutes via I-65 to I-80/94) and south toward Indianapolis. The 1878 red brick courthouse with its prominent clock tower remains the city's most distinctive landmark after nearly 150 years.
