Coalmont is a small Tennessee town in Grundy County, accessible via State Route 56 from either Nashville (via I-24 and US-41A) or Chattanooga (via US-72 and US-41A). The Cumberland Plateau community of 906 people sits among forested hills about 20 miles from Franklin County Airport. The town preserves its coal mining heritage through its historic company commissary, which still operates as a general store after more than a century.
