Claxton, a small town of 2,500 in southeastern Georgia, sits along US 301 about 60 miles northwest of Savannah. Most visitors arrive via US 301 or Interstate 16 (15 miles north), with routes connecting to Statesboro and the coast. The town calls itself the "Fruitcake Capital of the World" thanks to Claxton Bakery, which has shipped millions of pounds of mail-order fruitcakes since 1910.
