Claremont is a small foothills city of about 1,900 people in Catawba County, located 15 miles southeast of Hickory along the Catawba River. Take I-40 to Exit 135, then NC Highway 10 south for three miles to reach downtown. From Charlotte, it's a 45-mile drive via I-77 north to I-40 west. Hickory Regional Airport sits 12 miles northwest for air travelers. The restored 1924 Claremont Opera House anchors downtown as the community's cultural centerpiece.
