Clara City is a small farming town of about 1,500 people in west-central Minnesota, sitting along the Chippewa River in agricultural country. Highway 29 runs right through town, connecting west to Montevideo and east toward Granite Falls. From Minneapolis, take US 212 west about 130 miles to Granite Falls, then Highway 23 south and Highway 29 west. The town's 1939 WPA community center still hosts events with its original art deco fixtures.
