Buckhorn, KY

Buckhorn is a tiny mountain community in Perry County, Kentucky, home to just 95 people. Highway 28 is your main route in, typically reached via the Mountain Parkway and Highway 15 through Hazard from the north, or from Whitesburg to the south. The winding mountain roads can be challenging in winter, and cell service is spotty in the hollows. Buckhorn Lake, formed by a Corps of Engineers dam on the Middle Fork Kentucky River, gives the town its name and draws anglers and boaters to this corner of the Daniel Boone National Forest.
