Bellmont is a tiny farming community in southeastern Illinois near the Indiana border, accessible via State Route 15. Most visitors arrive from Interstate 64, exiting at Grayville and driving west about 15 miles. The town sits along the Wabash River in agricultural country, with Mount Carmel 10 miles northeast serving as the county seat. Bellmont's post office has operated continuously since 1882.
