Belknap, IL

Belknap is a tiny community in southern Illinois near the Kentucky border, accessible via Route 146 which connects to Interstate 57 about 15 miles west. The area features rolling hills typical of the Shawnee region, quite different from Illinois' famous flatlands. Most visitors arrive from I-57 or use local county roads for shorter trips within Johnson County. The historic Belknap Cemetery holds graves of frontier-era settlers from the 1800s.
